It has come to light that at least 10 passengers have been duped out of thousands of dollars after being taken in by an internet flight company offering direct flights from Auckland to Bali for just $1,000. It now turns out that not only is the company part of an elaborate scam, but there are in fact no direct flights between Auckland and Bali. Is this just the tip of the iceberg?

There are real concerns that as this type of scam has appeared in New Zealand it is highly likely to have been repeated in other parts of the world, with many victims possibly a little embarrassed to admit that they have been taken in.
